Kathmandu 09-1 Budhanikantha Pilgrims Near Sleeping Vishnu Statue Budhanilkantha Narayan (Sleeping Vishnu), 15km north from Thamel in Kathmandu, is a temple complex with a 5m long great stone figure of the Hindu god Vishnu reclining on the coils of the cosmic serpent Ananta, lying in a 13m long tank. It is believed that the deity was carved in the 7th or 8th century during the Licchavi period.
