The jumbled ‘black castles’ of oddly shaped pillars and crags of Dimmuborgir (Dark Fortress) were created 2000 years ago from a lava pool when the lava was dammed up as it flowed into Lake Myvatn. Pete shows off Gatklettur, a moon-shaped hole in the the lava wall.
