Hong Kong 01 01 Central and Star Ferry From Kowloon [1 of 11]
The Central District, the birthplace of modern Hong Kong, used to be called Victoria, after Queen Victoria. It boasted elegant colonial-style buildings with sweeping verandas and narrow streets. With Central's gleaming glass-and-steel skyscrapers, there's little left of its colonial beginnings. The Star Ferries are green-and-white vessels that have been carrying passengers back and forth between Kowloon and Hong Kong Island since 1898. The tall building in the centre is the Two International Finance Centre, opened in 2003, which is the 6th tallest building in the world with 88 stories and 415m high.
