In 2008 I trekked from Rolwaling to Tashi Lapcha to Thame to Renjo La to Gokyo to Cho La to Gorak Shep and Kala Pattar, and Kongma La to Lukla

Thame To Renjo La 3 Tengi Ragi Tau West Face From North Of Thame The west face of Tengi Ragi Tau (6943m) was visible for a few minutes on the trail from Thame north to the first village of Marlung.

Thame To Renjo La 4 Taranga, Marlung, Mountains Near Nangpa La, Lungden The trail from Thangmoche, just across the ridge from Thame, was fairly easy, passing Taranga and taking 95 minutes to Marlung (4200m), and another 50 minutes to Lungden (4350m). From Lungden I looked up the valley towards the Nangpa La, with several 6000m peaks flanking the way.

Thame To Renjo La 5 Lungden To Relama Tsho Lake After lunch at Lungden, the trail ascended in 55 minutes to a big Rock on the ridge. The trail was then fairly easy, taking 40 minutes to Relama Tsho lake, where we camped for the night. The next day we started in the cold early morning air towards the Renjo La.

Thame To Renjo La 6 Kongde, Tengkangpoche, Panalotapa, Tengi Ragi Tau From Above Relama Tsho Forty minutes after leaving Relama Tsho, I turned around to view the mountain panorama stretching from Kongde (Kwangde) to Tengkangpoche to Panalotapa to Tengi Ragi Tau on the far right. Sticking up above the ridge is Karyolung (6515m) and Khatang (6853m), and just barely visible is the summit of Numbur (6959m).

Renjo La 2-1 View To West Tengi Ragi Tau, Drangnag Ri, Menlungtse From the Renjo La (5345m) there is very good view to the west above the lake, including Tengi Ragi Tau (6943m) on the left, many 6000m peaks, Drangnag Ri (6801m) just to the left of the pointy rock, and to the right of the pointy rock Drag Korob (6705m, Pangbuk) and the main summit of Menlungtse (6181m).

Renjo La 2-4 Drag Korob And Menlungtse Main East Summit The main east summit and steep east face of Menlungtse (6181m) is perfectly visible from the Renjo La (5345m). On the left of Menlungtse is Drag Korob (6705m, Pangbuk).

Renjo La 4-1 Gokyo, Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Makalu, Cholatse, Taweche From Renjo La (5345m) there is an excellent view to the east including Gokyo Ri on the far left, Gokyo and the Nguzumpa Glacier, Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Makalu, Cholatse and Taweche. To the left of Everest is Changtse and poking its head above the ridge is Pumori. The v-shape break in the ridge below Lhotse is the Cho La.
