3 Rongbuk Monastery 1 After Snowfall  [5 of 18]

Founded in 1902, Rongbuk was the largest monastery of the region with over 500 monks and nuns. The monastery was destroyed in the Cultural Revolution. The monastery was renovated in 1983 and currently houses about 36 monks and 18 nuns. Here is a view in the July monsoon after an overnight snowfall.
