The trail towards Cho La comes to a rough area of rocks and boulders directly below the pass, 55 minutes after our lunch stop, at a campsite called Cho La Base Camp (5200m). The weather was cloudy all day as we crossed the Cho La and trekked to Gorak Shep, so the mountain views were not very good. The trail climbs from Cho La Base Camp up the right side of an open gully on rock, scree, and glacial sand before reaching the Cho La (5420m) after 60 minutes.
