It took three hours to drive the 140km long, little-used road from Trinidad to Santa Clara crossing the wooded Sierra del Escambray Mountains. The drives climbs up a steep 15km road through pine and eucalyptus woods towards Topes de Collantes, with a view back towards Trinidad.
