The beautifully restored Manaca Iznaga hacienda in the Valle de los Ingenios 15km from Trinidad has a superb exhibition of paintings depicting the brutalities of plantation life in the days of slavery, and a startling sculpture showing two slaves with balls and chains. Estate owner Pedro Iznaga became the richest man in Cuba using the sweat of thousands of African slaves.
