51 Cuba - Trinidad - Valle de los Ingenios - View of Valley From Mirador de la Loma del Puerto [22 of 30]
The road east from Trinidad to Sancti Spiritus passes through Valle de los Ingenios (Valley of the Sugar Mills), once the source of Trindad’s prosperity. In the early 1800s there were more than 50 small sugar mills worked by over 11,000 slaves. The Mirador de la Loma del Puerto, about 5km east of Trinidad, offers a magnificent overview of the Valle de los Ingenios valley’s lime-green cane fields set against a bank of dark green mountains.
